WHIPPOORWILL is a duo comprised of the former LOOK PEOPLE rhythm section of bassist/guitarist: CHRIS GARTNER and drummer: GREAT BOB SCOTT.

Formed in 2003, this is an exciting and innovative group that creates a forest of sound and texture with just two people. Gartner plays composed, live guitar and bass loops, and GREAT BOB SCOTT'S infamous drumming is spiced with electronic triggering, samples, and a garden of clay flowerpots and percussion.

Dense multitracked soundscapes composed by GARTNER, and live video projections augment their live shows.

The two members of WHIPPOORWILL have been part of a number of high profile acts over the years. They both toured Europe and North America as members of Canada's legendary "LOOK PEOPLE", and appeared in recordings, magazines, television shows, rock videos, and both American, and Canadian LOLLAPALOOZA festivals with the group in 1992.

In the electric-jazz world, TOM WALSH'S swamp-jazz collective N.O.M.A. featured BOB and CHRIS in some of their reknowned live performances.    The duo were also once the rhythm section for Toronto's EXCALCEOLATORS, recording a fine jazz/dub cd and appearing in many jazz festivals, including an opening spot with MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD

Individually, they have worked with a host of varied artists from SPOOKEY RUEBEN, DAVID DARLING, MARK HEWINS (Gong), and Indian classical master musician TRICHY SANKARAN, to JOHN OSWALD,

THE PIZZICATO FIVE, DAMO SUZUKI (of CAN), and comedian JIM CARREY.

WHIPPOORWILL have perfomed a number of special shows including: the grand re-opening of Toronto's Drake Hotel with POLMO POLPO , the MOD CLUB THEATRE opening for NASH THE SLASH,

the Ambient Ping and a celebration for the Canadian debut of CRISPIN GLOVER'S film:"WHAT IS IT".

They have also played at the Electric Elclectics Festival, and have recived mention in

Signal to Noise magazine, and on JAZZFM radio.

Currently, aside from WHIPPOORWILL, GARTNER and SCOTT are members of:

(BARENAKED LADIES keyboardist) KEVIN HEARN'S group: THINBUCKLE,

and ORCO MUTO with (GOBLIN keyboardist) MAURIZIO GUARINI.
