reviews
"Producer/bassist Chris Gartner
(Kevin Hearn's Thinbuckle, Mia Sheard), brought his eccentric blend of art rock and world music into the arrangements, which are detailed with such unusual textures as bowed banjo and sampled escalator"
Fear of a Blank Planet
“Lori shares production duties with bassist
Chris Gartner. This is his first credit in that capacity, and apparently he has been saving his genius for the perfect project. His sympathetic settings add depth and mystery to the material, with unusual textures such as bowed banjo, and a haunting middle eastern flute snaking through a beautiful lush garden of vocal harmonies.”

It features a horn arrangement by Chris.
In the Gloaming
"Simultaneously lush and fragile, local folk-popster Lori Cullen’s terribly pretty sophomore release establishes her as a poetic singer/songwriter in the vein of Joni Mitchell. Yeah, her lyrics probe the emotions-beyond-language territory of, say, Blue or A Case Of You, but it’s really Cullen’s vocal technique that reveals her debt to the Mitchell of yore. Over sophisticated arrangements shored up by Toronto talents like horn player Sarah McElcheran and pedal steel man Tim Bovaconti, Cullen wields her voice with careful deliberation, like an instrument that soars and wavers. Her original tunes are quite good, and the three-part choral harmony on trad standard In The Gloaming is lovely."
